A Lyon native, Philippe Sans graduated from EMLYON Business School in 1981 and then from INSEAD. He launched his career in 1982 as a senior auditor at Coopers & Lybrand and joined bioMérieux in 1984, where he held various positions (Vice President of Sales, Vice President Europe, President North America, Deputy General Manager).

In 2007, Philippe Sans was appointed President & CEO of Mérieux NutriSciences (Silliker Group Corporation), a company held by the Mérieux Institute since 1997. A world leader in food safety, Mérieux NutriSciences is present in 21 countries through over 80 accredited laboratories located all over the world.

Philippe Sans has been treasurer-administrator at Institut Paul Bocuse since 2008.
